Almost to the top of Murphey's Peak (3,851 m), the highest in Arizona, my legs are burning and salty sweat streams through my eyes. Ski hills like this provide swift passage to the top, if you don't mind the burn of a non-stop 33 to 45 degree pitch. This gets harder with weight and today I'm carrying an extra 10L of water to get through the night and all of tomorrow.
