East Butte (1) July 23rd, 2020

“There are four black Suburbans with tinted windows and no trespassing signs everywhere” Lyndsay said, explaining why she wasn’t going to be able to access and document my hike and fly from Idaho’s East Butte. As I hiked towards it from the South, I was dead set on trying my luck from, what appeared to be, the only launch-able feature within a 60 km radius. What occurred next I can’t say, but what I will reveal is that I had naively bushwhacked on to what is referred to by locals as “The Site”, a highly secretive part of Idaho and home to the largest concentration of nuclear reactors in the world.
