The Long Road June 6th, 2019

I can make excuses until I'm blue in the face as to why I walked 200 km with an aircraft on my back. Not being able to launch within the National Parks, Monuments or the giant Navajo Nation all feel legit. Yet the truth is that, even if I were legally, or physically kite a paraglider up and leave the earth for a while, there's no way I could have gotten myself back on course. You see, the strong west wind has been my arch-nemesis since Day 1 of this expedition and that 200 km I needed to go was directly west. Even if I had the right, even if I had the skill, I was essentially just sucking it up and walking up stream so that I may slowly be blown down it again from a point further west.
