Cottonwood Peak July 14th, 2020

Though I'm flying every day now, those flights are sometimes cruel jokes designed to test my optimism. I flew to Cottonwood Peak because it was the highest bump for miles around. From there, however, I climbed up and bombed out at its base three days in a row, unable to understand how air could be so stable, so uneventful. Places like Bonneville offer me a renewed sense of humility as a pilot, reminding me that while optimism tells me to try, humility reminds me when it's time to move on.
