Meet Josefa, a wonder of a woman and someone to whom I owe the deepest of gratitude. Josefa is unique amongst Malawian women because she lived most of her life as a Sister in monasteries. Though she is plenty familiar with farming and village life, her unique environment also encouraged her to explore her more artistic side and gave her opportunities to travel to monasteries in other countries such as Kenya and France. Possibly the most unique thing about her is that she has never been married, which in Malawi often means being subservient, to a man. Her resulting self-confidence shines for miles around her and she has become a beacon of light and wisdom in the Mganja area, which she now calls home.
Vol-Bivouac - Across the Bugaboos
Only in my wildest dreams ..a Vol-Biv (fly camp) connecting the mighty Slocan and Columbia Valleys.
Inspired by many great adventurers, pushing the boundaries of this niche sport, this was my first time going at it solo and I am still ecstatically grateful at the result.
Thank you for sharing this with me. <3 Ben
