This is a special young man. I met him here two years ago, drunk as a bat, showing off a homemade tattoo of his very own name on his forearm. He expressed his deep desire to fly as I had been doing but I was not in the mood to engage. I crossed his path several times in the following week, each time he seemed just a bit more drunk than the last. In the end, I told him that he'd have to get a handle on his drinking if he was to get into something as serious as paragliding and, to my amazement, he was 3 months sober when I showed up this year. So far, it has been a delight having him on board. <3 B
Vol-Bivouac - Across the Bugaboos
Only in my wildest dreams ..a Vol-Biv (fly camp) connecting the mighty Slocan and Columbia Valleys.
Inspired by many great adventurers, pushing the boundaries of this niche sport, this was my first time going at it solo and I am still ecstatically grateful at the result.
Thank you for sharing this with me. <3 Ben
