In rural Malawi, carrying a child, either in the belly or on the back, or both, is synonymous with womanhood. Many girls look forward to having their first child from a very young age with the feeling that becoming a mother will earn them the respect they long for. This young girl runs out to the road to greet me every time I walk by, often carrying a tiny human on her back. :) B

Vol-Bivouac - Across the Bugaboos
Only in my wildest dreams ..a Vol-Biv (fly camp) connecting the mighty Slocan and Columbia Valleys.
Inspired by many great adventurers, pushing the boundaries of this niche sport, this was my first time going at it solo and I am still ecstatically grateful at the result.
