
..but the drought mentioned yesterday hasn't screwed up every harvest. A large number of small-hold farmers feeling the wrath of the drought are those planing the government subsidized, Hybrid maize (Monsanto). And, though the high-tech crops produce higher yeald and stand up to pests, they've done poorly with the recent deviation in weather patterns. At the Nazareth Community Centre, an old, traditional variety of yellow maize is sewn and, on top of being tastier, it has also stood the test of time, continuing to produce this hearty grain come hell or high water.
Vol-Bivouac - Across the Bugaboos
Only in my wildest dreams ..a Vol-Biv (fly camp) connecting the mighty Slocan and Columbia Valleys.
Inspired by many great adventurers, pushing the boundaries of this niche sport, this was my first time going at it solo and I am still ecstatically grateful at the result.
