Getting airborne as soon as the thermals start is a must on a big day like this one. For that reason I had hiked up to the summit of Mt Seven, approximately 600 metres above the standard launch. With the additional height I was able to fly around to the South East face, which had been heating for some time, and gain two full hours on pilots launching from the standard launch (the clearing below and to the left of me).
