After being stuck for over a week in muggy, dark wildfire smoke, a rare north wind cleared the skies enough for a head-wind flight along my northbound expedition route. And though the late August stability offered no cloud cover, I always knew I'd arrived at cloud base when the sky went from a milky white, to brilliant blue.
