Charging the Darchstein

My first flight here in the Alps was intimidating to say the least. Big thermals, massive mountains and sail planes whizzing around me left and right. After a few hours, I got the hang of it and chose to charge directly into the North Bavarian winds, hoping to reach the famous Darchstein mountains.

Only in my wildest dreams ..a Vol-Biv (fly camp) connecting the mighty Slocan and Columbia Valleys.
Inspired by many great adventurers, pushing the boundaries of this niche sport, this was my first time going at it solo and I am still ecstatically grateful at the result.
