What makes a great paragliding destination? Yeah, Malawi's got great food, culture and hospitality ..but pilots who've been grounded for 50% of their flying trips due to poor weather know that the most important aspect are the conditions and their consistency. In Malawi, almost every day looks just like this, with the occasional high-pressure moving through causing blue-thermal days. Rain or overdevelopment are extremely rare, as are strong winds. Roughly speaking an intermediate pilot could fly 99% of the days between May and August and a novice, closer to 75%. And if you're not flying, there's so much else to do!
Vol-Bivouac - Across the Bugaboos
Only in my wildest dreams ..a Vol-Biv (fly camp) connecting the mighty Slocan and Columbia Valleys.
Inspired by many great adventurers, pushing the boundaries of this niche sport, this was my first time going at it solo and I am still ecstatically grateful at the result.
Thank you for sharing this with me. <3 Ben
